MyriamCasanova
Myriam Casanova is a costume designer based in Bern, Switzerland. After graduating in Textile Design from the Universities of Art and Design in Lucerne and Helsinki, she started working as a costume assistant at Konzert Theater Bern for three years.
Since 2014, she works as a freelance costume designer for theater, opera and dance/performance. A long-time collaboration with Heide Kastler led her to different opera houses and theaters such as Royal Opera House in London, Opéra National de Lyon, Burgtheater Wien and Teatro San Carlo in Napoli.
She started her own projects while still working as a costume assistant at the Konzert Theater Bern (collaborations with Cathy Marston, Tabea Martin, Olivier Keller, Martin Schick, Markus Kubesch) and is now pursuing her work with Swiss based collectives and theaters (Unplush, Theater Marie, the codes, TOBS, Bühnen Bern, Dampfzentrale Bern, Schlachthaus Theater Bern) and with directors and choreographers working mainly in the German speaking part of Switzerland and Europe (such as Christina Rast, Annina Dullin-Witschi, Marion Zurbach, Stephan Lichtensteiger, Nina Gühlstorff, Claudia Bossard, Olivier Keller, Jan Stephan Schmieding, Dennis Schwabenland and Marcel Leemann). From August 2018 to January 2019 she got awarded with a 6 month residency in New York thanks to the Arts Councils Scholarship from the State of Bern.
