From the hyper-performativity of classical ballet to the reinvention of forms and presences, Marion Zurbach traces a physical, aesthetic, and political metamorphosis. Drawing on her embodied experience, she questions dominant dance narratives and aligns herself with anti-heroic figures and the forgotten archetypes of romantic ballet.
Extending the perspective to non-human worlds, she explores the transformative power of so-called “invasive” or “nuisible” species. Inspired by these marginalized beings, she seeks a poetics of impure, fantastical figures. Between reality and fiction, the performance evokes creatures in suspension, alert, unfinished, on the verge of becoming. Transformation is embraced as a continuous, subversive process, carried by the shifting flux of identities.
